TV or monitor

I was toying with the idea of getting a new 27inch monitor in the sales but noticed I could get a much larger led tv for the same price. Its 1080p but I know I will still be taking a hit in terms of the resolution. I was hoping that would be compensated for by the larger screen size and the ability to watch things in 3d. My only worry is that since all my 3d content is on the computer, would the tv be able to play it? I usually use stereoscopic player with anaglyph glasses but the tv might not be able to handle this. Anyone any experience of this?
