Found this YouTube video via a Facebook link just now:

It's a bit before my time, so it's a novelty to see traffic going down Grafton Street!

Apart from Grafton street being pedestrianised not alot has changed.
And what was your man driving?? An army jeep or somthing?

That and the fact that he only had to stop once on the journey between Stephen's Green and O'Connell Street! :D

The car was a Mini Moke, according to his comments on YouTube.

That is brilliant! Kinda nauseating to watch though, I think I've motion sickness now.

The filth of Trinity, and it looks like they are only building the Central Bank on Dame St.

    Cool video.

Jaysis, he took no prisoners at junctions, did he? I suppose driving an armoured car helped with that :)

Nice find! I love looking at videos/pictures like this. He came across as a bit of a nutcase driver! :D

Love the way there's cars casually parked in the middle of O'Connell St!

37 years on and pedestrians are still ignoring the lights on O'Connell St.

Here's a link for a video about Dublin for the 1988 Dublin millennium celebrations. More detail in the video description on YouTube. The old footage might be of some interest to people here.

At 0:28 there's a girl holding her hand to her ear as though she has a mobile phone... in 1974. Even if she was a timetraveller there'd be no reception...

Maybe she just had an ear ache or something. Yeah that's more plausible.

Remembering Ireland in the mid 1970s I recall that nearly every second car was a Volkswagen Beetle, in the rural areas anyway.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Do you see the cyclist watching him nervously as he takes the turn at 1:25!
