Enniscorthy Golf Club - No Entrance Fee

It's no secret that most clubs are feeling the pinch and full marks to those that are pro-active (and imaginative) in adjusting their subs and hand-shake (entrance) money. Last year Enniscorthy introduced two new membersip categories (a) Distant (80km) E399 (b) 5-day E450 and now they've suspended the entrance fee until April 30th 2012 (was E3k, then reduced to E1k).

Interesting also is a little survey running on the mygolfmembership site: How much should Golf Membership cost?
    results:
less than €500 per year 0%
    €500 to €650 per year 75%
    €650 - €850 per year 25%
€850 or above per year 0%
    Golfers are realistic!

For any survey to have merit you need to disclose the sample population coverage, even the most basic information available on surveys point this out at a minimum.
They survey results you quote have no-one voting in either the top or bottom category with all votes in the median two.
All that can be deducted here is that it was a poorly designed survey or four people voted with 3 in one category and 1 another.
In either case the results are meaningless.

I take your point SLAVE1, such surveys are not meant to be 'definitive' as I said it is a 'little survey' to be taken with a grain of salt. Personally, I would concur with the 25% or rather the price region of €650 - €850. If the subs are too low the club & course will suffer...ach sin scéal eile. There are many other fine courses on the Wexford/Wicklow/Carlow borders worth considering that have greatly reduced their entrance fees and subs within driving distance of Dublin. The Wexford coast has several seaside resorts that are frequented by folks from the Capital and clubs such as Courtown, Enniscorthy, Wexford and Rosslare benefit from these.
