inner barrell is 509mm, the internalls are very good from what I'v heard. Firekitten is probally one of the best people to ask about the Ares L85,

I have the Star one, which is pretty much identical apart from the plastic gearbox, and the 509 is the standard L85 rifle.

The STAR/ARES are listed as 385mm for the carbine.
