Migrating from iMac to new iMac

    Hi,
Just ordered a new 27.5inch mac. I'm migrating from another Intel model which runs Snow Leopard. I have ordered a Firewire 400 to 800 cable for the Migration. My question is two fold:
    1) I have my media stored on an external drive off the original machine. Will all the iTunes pointers transfer on the migration so that I just have to hook up to the new machine? Same with Time Machine backing up to a different external drive hanging off the first machine.
    2) Anything else I need to consider that may not be so obvious.

    Thanks,
    Dermot

Did this myself last week but I didn't have any media saved externally. Time machine did it all for me, just backed up one and then transferred the data on the first start up on the new machine. Took 8 hours but was well worth it as the everything is exactly the same on my new machine...

When I loaded up chrome it asked me if I wanted to open up the tabs I had open on the other machine!

Just fyi - the migration over Firewire didn't work first time. Rang Apple support and moved to a migration from Time Machine rather than the original mac. No issues with that. Might be worth noting if you ever have to do the same.
