    In order to work you require a PPS number. Without one you pay 41% of tax on your earnings and will not be able to get a refund of tax without a PPS. Contact the Department of Social Protection in order to get a PPS.

    And the best advice you'll get here: don't even think about working without one, or with a false one. You'll be ineligible for all sorts of things - that any employer should have been contributing to - for years, possibly even for the rest of you life. It's just not worth it.
