I am looking for prescription sunglasses for cycling, however I don't want the kind where you simply click a prescription glasses in behind the sunglasses lens. I have these & find they steam up. Anyone know where these can be got?

    Thanks

    I don't like the styling.

A quick Google brought up these....

edit: a lot of these (all?) seem to use inserts, which I've used in the past with Bolle and look a bit rubbish

I have about 5 or 6 pairs to go with my different colour schemes etc! A couple of those with larger lenses sometimes get the helmet sitting on them a bit, but I have a summer skullcap which means the helmet sits a little higher and avoids any problems - no problem at all in winter with a heavier duty hat underneath the helmet

I find the ultra lenses particularly useful in difficult or low light conditions. I also have a couple of pairs with clear lenses for nighttime and track riding - again no problems

The one thing I've not tried them with is my new aero helmet which has visor - I know I can get the helmet on with them on (it's a tight fit though), but I don't know whether they will steam up at all (in which case I may have to go without glasses - I had to do that in last week's hamper race, but am not too happy doing it in a group - TT'ing in the aero helmet on roads I know might not be too bad though)

Bought these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=36720 many moons ago. Took the rx adapter to specsavers and they built me the prescriptions. One of the best things I have done on the bike, really made a difference, especially on cold days and on downhills.

I was tempted by the optilabs but these look cheaper and more flexible - how much were the lenses? I presume they can be reused if your prescription changes.
Do they use 2 overlapping lenses? Is there blurred vision on the peripheries? What the weight/sit like?

    Cheers.

Theres a shop on Henry St. Dublin that will put prescription lenses in Oakleys

I think I paid 120 euro for the lenses, but I actually bought one pair of glasses and get the second pair free. There is an adapter that actually sits behind the actual frame and hosts the prescriptions lenses. It's very easy to remove and clean and they can reused no problem. There are actually made well enough to not have any problem on the peripheral vision, but that also has to do with the shape of the face i would have to say. They are quite tight and light. I ll get you some pictures and actual weight in a while.

Sorry can't take any pics at the moment. I have a dodgy scale which showed 25grams for the frame, lenses and prescription adapter all together.

Specsavers do a range of sunglasses which are semi wraparound and can be fitted with prescription lenses provided yours allows for it. They work really well, I have a pair for days when i can't be bothered with contacts. Good thing is they were free when I got normal glasses. Only downside is the lenses arent light weight like polycarbonate ones.

I priced up prescription Oakley-dokelys. Crazy money! A regular pair and contacts worked out much better value. Particularly since I seem to go through a pair of prescription shades a year!

I got a pair from this crowd last year. They worked out about 60-70 euro all in including delivery and they've worked out brilliantly - highly recommended

Oakleys might be expensive but they are the best I've come across by far. No inserts to be messing around with and, if you don't go mad with the colours, they can be used for driving/ general use as well.
Vision express have most of the range in stock and can order in any colour lenses you want. Expect to be paying around €400/450 for a pair though and spare lenses are around €200 a pop.

One fall and it's 450 yoyos down the drain. That's crazy, at least given the number of times a year I come off.

It's not really clear from all these websites which glasses come with inserts and which don't. Can anybody be bothered to work this out for me the common good?

I got 2 pairs from this crowd, 1 pair with 2 sets of lens, bloack polarized and a yellow set(ideal for going through tunnels in the alps :), and 1 pair for normal posing!!
All came to less than the price of prescription oakleys, oakley couldn't even do my prescription because of my stigmatism. Got them within a week also

I bought from Optilabs. I was in London and they sent out 4 different types of frame so I could choose what I wanted and free postage to send them back.

Nice glasses, only very slight niggle I had was that, for the price, they only came with a sleeve and no hard case.

Talk to Sean McDermott at Vision Express in Henry street. After several visiting several retailers & optometrists, was i blown away by his knowledge and willingness to go the extra mile. (They have Oakley Adidas and other options)

Not say there there is other option, only that my words when walking out was that I was really impressed and that I would have saved time going there first.
