A colleague of mine has recommended La Molina as a change from our usual haunt of Montecampione. Has anyone ever been? Any comment on suitability for intermediates/improvers?

Used the search function and all I could find was a thread from 2006 that didn't really go anywhere.

    Cheers!

Been there twice, not far from Girona airport with a car. Fairly big area by Spanish standards when you combine with adjacent and lift linked Masella. Not really a snow bound area as it gets the tail end of storms that cross the Pyrennes. Still we had fun and some good runs through the trees over in Masella. Not much off-piste potential but a decent snow park. Apres ski is quiet.

Yes a good place for intermediate improvers, and private lessons are cheap, resort also normally very quiet during the week so lots of room to practice.

Linked to Masella, which is slightly more scenic, but both very nice

For more accom choices and better night life , try Puigcerda, approx 20 mins away by car

Try Val D Nuria, for one days ski, approx 30 km away, small, quiet resort, spectacular rack railway assent to there
In fact Val D'Nuria (Ribes de fraiser) on way back to Girona, so if u wanted something different, could do this on your last day night
Most accom in Ribes de fraiser, from there its the rack railway to Nuria

There is a dog sledding race in the Molina area, (I think mid jan) Try to avoid this week, v busy accom wise

Val D Nuria; Really any decent skier would ski this place in 90 minutes not really worth if to a 40 minute train ride up the mountain.
