replace/repair reg. plate

    Hi,

I reversed into a flower pot and slightly bent my rear number plate. I need to get it repaired/replaced this week. I also did some very minor damage to the rear bumper, I'm not sure if it's just the paintwork or if it's very slightly dented, but I'm hopeful it's just the former. Can anyone recommend somewhere in south country dublin that could sort this out? Somewhere near Dun Laoghaire/Blackrock would be ideal.

    Thanks in advance

any motor factors will make and fit a new reg plate for you. we usually charge €20 to supply and fit but you may get it cheaper

Thanks for the info. I called a few motor factors in the area but none of them will fit it. I was told that only the dealer is authorised to fit the plate.

I'd go with double sided tape to secure it instead of screws, Halfords sell plate specific lengths.

And what do you say when you are stopped by the Gardai for no reg plate on the car? Soz Mr Garda it fell off because i stuck it on with little more than sellotape?

Screws are the way to go.

I've never had a numberplate secured with the correct tape fall off in the last 10 years or so.

If you are willing to believe that.............................

Take off plate, put old plate over new plate, drill holes, put new plate to car and put screws back in. 5-10 minutes work.

    Plates cost between €7 - €10

If none of your local motor factors sell them you can order off these guys.. http://www.a-zplates.com/.. usually very quick delivery.. €7.95 for a single acrylic plate.. They supply screw kits or mounting tape..

Also Eireplates.com but their site doesn't seem to be working!
