Which is the best buy of the above? Lack of a microsd for the xoom 2 puts me off a bit, but it has a few other features which the galaxy doesn't have and it's newer so should generally be higher spec I guess.

Also, where can each be bought in cash here?

    Thanks

No microSd on the galaxy either.

Oh right. Which would you recommend or any others I should be looking at?

I haven't played with xoom 2 yet. But I'd pick the Asus Transformer over 10.1 any day.

Asus has a mini HDMI port, msd slot and its cheaper, it performs better and runs smoother, and you have the optional dock to add battery life and turn it to an android net book.

Original xoom would take second place for me.

I'd kick the galaxy 10.1 a bad 3rd spot. I had a test one for a week, played with other peoples 10.1 and it was never butter smooth. That pissed me off the most

I'd get a Xoom 1 instead of the 2. It's a very poor upgrade I think and the Xoom 1 is by far and away the best tablet available including iPad for the price. The specs are incredibly high, 32GB and all the ports/slots you need and it's about HALF the price of some of the equivalent spec'd models from other manufacturers.
The reason for the low pricing is because Motorola released the Xoom too early and it had lots of problems on Android 3.0 so initially it got lots of bad reviews due to lagginess and some of the ports not working properly but since it's been upgraded to 3.2 it's an absolute incredible piece of kit and you effectively now have a 64GB model due to the micro SD slot.

The Galaxy also had the same problems with 3.0 but 3.1 was released very quickly after it's launch so it didn't get as much negative publicity!

Yes Ballyman, I have to agree with you on that one. I almost got stung by jumping in and going straight for the Xoom 2 until i compared the 2 of them. They tried to pull a fast one on us but didnt succeed!. The Xoom is far superior. Got mine in PC World for €300 (Display model with barely a scratch) having nerarly spent the guts of €500 for Xoom 2!

For anyone interested, carphone warehouse.ie are selling the xoom 1 for €349.90. Very good value compared to other sites.
