id imagine if you have permission you could shoot at the boundary and not in the direction of the sanctuary

that'd be awesome, standing at the boundary shooting them before they got into the sanctuary

as long as there is no public right of way or house with in 65 yards of where the people are shooting there is no law being broken.

You could get permission off the landowner to shoot in your neighbouring gunclubs sanctuary;) dont expect it to work out to well though:p

perhaps but if the landowner gave ya permission there is nothing they could legally do about it.
it would say a lot about the character of that person though

Don't forget about the problem that if you have permission to shoot as far as the boundary and no further, like shooting anywhere really you do not have permission to enter the land to retrieve killed or follow up wounded game. I imagine that goes for your dog too ! Little bit silly I know as no one wants to leave game wounded or a shot bird un-retrieved

i dont think they can stop ya retreiving shot or wounded game with your dog as long as you leave the gun where you have permission. There was a case in a local court quiet a few years ago where it came up.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but is the 65 yard rule the same for distance from roads? I thought it was 40 yards....

since iv been here this has been discussed a few times. Only the last time it was discussed was someone able to get a bit of legislation back from 1800 and somethin. Up till that was posted everyone had their own ideas of the rule

It is neither 65 yards or 40 yards, it is 60 feet or 20 yards from the centre of the road, this is according to the nargc safety manual

That is only a guideline, there is no actual legal document there stating what the distance is.

Well if that's the case then we can fire away just as long as we're not standing on the raod

if only, depending on what boy in blue arrives to give you a telling off, you can be done for wreckless discharge of a firearm, so even if you were the 60 yards away it does not guarentee you from a summons.

best practice to just be sensible. Shooting in a field along a busy road during the day is not a good idea but the same shot May be fine at night
