Most of the stuff in there I'd NEVER wear, but for good quality basics, I honestly don't think anywhere is better. The plain cotton tees are €15 each, but I have some AA tees I've had for a good 4 years, and honestly, they are still perfect. Very little shrinkage, very little fade, and they are way better quality than the likes of penneys or dunnes.

I have 2 of their hoodies. Love them because they're great basics, just a grey and cream one. At 45ish euro its not bad, Ive had my grey one for a year and a half now and it's still fine :)

Great basic clothes. Though be warned they don't do refunds, only give store credit. :)

I got a grey jumper there a while ago, it bobbled after one wear, not impressed be cause it cost enough. pull and bear I think its nice but, quality not great, but price is good

Went on the website after reading this thread. Wasn't expecting to see bare boobs, TBH!

they really need to find more normal looking people to model their clothes, as a guy seeing some of them dorks would put me off the clothes

Love Pull and Bear usually, but sometimes it can be a bit hit and miss. Altough went in there recently and spent about €150 worth of clothes!! Great value for money though, all clothes are pretty reasonably priced!!

I HATE the American Apparel site.

Without sounding like a complete granny, I think it's really unnecessarily revealing. If i'm shopping for clothes I don't wanna see boobs through a lace bodysuit yoke! It's not difficult to put the model wearing a bra. I don't know if it's just me who wouldn't wear a lace bodysuit braless? And a see through dress with no bra and knickers on, boobs and pubic hair there for the world to see.

I do think the clothes are extremely over priced too. Some of the things look really tacky and they're so expensive. I'd rather pay a lot of money for something in Topshop where they have models with underwear on :P

AA does nothing for me whatsoever; whenever I walk into the shop on College Green I feel like I'm in a crappy second hand shop.

Pull and Bear is nice, and Bershka. But why so small-fitting?! Irish women just don't always have the same physiques as Spanish women :(

TBH, that's tame compared to some of the overtly sexual posing for the modelling of catalogue items. What's the point? If I want porn, I'll search for it, thanks very much. Just display the clothes, FFS.

I like the AA hoodies/classic american baseball tshirts. Without a doubt they are overpriced and if they originally started off in Europe they would not have been so successful. AA only got famous because it's dirt cheap in the states and it's where everyone buys their basics. In Ireland we just go to Pennys or Dunnes but they never had the equivalent in the states up until recently.

Isnt JC penney the american version of penneys. think your being a little unfair on AA, the stuff is better than in penneys id say but most of the stuff is crap like i hate the jeans. i like as you said the baseball long sleeves/hoodies and boxers and thats it.

    Eh not by my experience.

    AA is relatively expensive there.

Target, Penneys and Sears are the places most go for dirt cheap basics with H&M making some serious inroads too.

I am a big fan of AA. A lot of my clothes are from there, jeans, dresses, skirts, jackets, tees etc...

One dress in particular i've had for nearly 4 years and it's still perfect despite getting a lot of wear; no shrinkage, no fading, no bobbling etc..

Their basics are the best out there too IMHO. I've done the rounds trying to find decent quality tshirts and hoodies; H&M, Topshop, Penneys, Dunnes, New Look etc... and AA comes out on top every time by far.

I have to say I was skeptical the first time I bought jeans there as they can be on the pricey side but they're jeans are great quality. I was always a big advocate of Topshop jeans but in the last two years their quality had plummeted and the price has not reflected this. I've had jeans from Topshop ripping after only a few wears, fading quickly and fraying. I have never had this experience in AA.

I do not work for AA of anything btw. I really am just a big fan :o. They are a bit expensive but honestly the clothes are such good quality it really justifies it for me. :)

The shop is aimed at the hipster market. Just saying because a few poster here didn't seem to realise.

Hipster is a contemporary subculture. (google it to find out more)
This is the market AA is aimed at.
    It's not very confusing.

Why should people "realise" it's a hipster (god I hate that word!) clothing brand? Should they not shop there anymore?

I know people who go to indie clubs who shop in AA, my mother has tops from AA, guys I know buy their casual work shirts there, I know people who go to Wrights on a Saturday night who get their clothes from AA. Should some of them realise it's not a brand for them?

I like their stuff, have loads of long sleeve tops and some hoodies and they're all hard wearing. One of my favourite dresses is from there, a black and purple body con.

I have always found the staff helpful and polite, getting me stuff from the floor when I'm in the fitting room, checking stock etc.

I think you misunderstood, nothing wrong with shopping there

I was just replying to comments like this

So I was just explaining who the target audience was to these posters who seemed a bit confused about it.

I'm not 'confused' by their target market, the brand just doesn't appeal to me. I understand it's a niche market; just not one that I am really part of.

But other people seem to love AA and that's entirely up to them, be they 'hipster' or not.

Apparently I don't keep up with what's happening in fashion

    http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/10_33/b4191062685325.htm

"Hipster is over" says Dov Charney, who, as the founder and chief executive officer of American Apparel
    August 2010

Does anyone know if the CEO has gone back on this?

I have mixed feelings on the place. I bought two hoodies there. The first was destroyed because my dad put it in a 40 degree wash. The second one is pretty bobbily now because it's my favourite hoodie. It stood up reasonably well to constant wear and washing. The colour hasn't faded from it at all which is amazing. Their tank tops are over €20 which is absurd. They're not fancier than any other brand, they just happen to do some awesome colours. I got my cape in there two years ago. It's amazing :D It was before capes came into fashion and it's pretty cosy too.
