Picture freezing on MMDS

Just wondering does anyone else on UPC MMDS ( ex chorus ) have a problem with the picture freezing for less than a second every 30 minutes or so? This doesn't happen all the time - it could go for a hour or two with no freezing.

I looked and the signal level in the upc box and signal quality is very good just a few mm from the end of the signal bar so i dont think its a low signal thats causing it. This only started happening a couple of weeks ago,

Has your MMDS aerial been affected by the recent winds. I'm in the west and highish enough and had no problems. My picture freezes once in the blue moon, but not any more than $ky would.

The aerial seems fine as i say this picture freezing only happens every so often. I watched the darts last night and it didn't happen at all during the entire matches .

MMDS is rubbish you should consider getting Sky.

Rubbish comment Ranicand:( There are thousands of happy campers willing to have UPC by any means before $ky. Clare, Galway,Limerick,Mayo, Tipp & Waterford are the counties that have the most mmds installations, outside of Dublin.Very few of those customers are unhappy. True, it is old technology and its days may be numbered, but it is certainly far from being rubbish.

it still looks like weak signal my picture started to freeze and break up and the problem was that trees had grown up between me and the line of sight to transmitter, my Ariel was quite low so upc raised the aerial replaced the cable in and headmast amp all for free and solved the problem unfortunately i may still be leaving them as mmds will not provide any hd channels

I have the same problem with my MMDS. If I am zapping between certain channels it freezes on the channel for 1-5 mins. BBC World, Dave, CityChannel and Setanta are the freeze channels. Also it seems more likely to freeze at a set time period usually after 10pm or at midnight.

Very common on ex Chorus UPC MMDS.
The signal just isn't quite good enough. Any slight deterioration of cable, dish, LNB (yes it's a 2.5GHz to VHF LNB), PSU, connectors, terrain or base station gear will cause the picture to freeze or pixelate. Many ex Chorus MMDS are marginal installs.

The ex NTLpart was better engineered.

Hi thanks for the advice - that was the problem a tree was blocking the aerial . I done a bit of 'pruneing' and picture is perfect again. :)
