    Hi Folks,
Looking for a bit of advice on getting a building 'delisted'. I own a commercial property that listed. I know I can't just delist at a whim, but I can't find ANY info online as to how to even begin. Can I delist 'parts' of the building- ie internally? and keep the outside features?
    Thanks in advance
    Marque

You can still alter the building - you just need to apply for (and receive!) planning permission. Most likely much simpler than de-listing the building which would likely have to go to a vote of the full council. You can still do routine maintenance as well.

Strictly speaking a building is listed or not, you can't have only part of a building listed any more. When the Register of Protected Structures is revised next, you could ask for it to be de-listed, but be part of an architectural conservation areas or similar.

can you give us a bit more info, what do you mean by 'delist' - do you wish to alter parts of a listed building?

    1. by listed do you mean 'protected structure' under the heritage/historic acts? (here's some info for Cork, what county are you in and what age/period is the building?)
    2. if so you need to speak to your local authority conservation officer but if this is the case i would seek advice from a conservation architect first. as there is definitely a wrong way to approach such work.. (basically doing anything, without first considering its heritage and historic significance in written agreement with your LA)
if by listed you mean you want to 'change the use from commercial to perhaps domestic then again your dealing with the local authority but this time the planning section
