Velux "solar powered" blinds

Bought 4 Velux blinds the other day.All are GGL SO6 size (1.1 meter x 1 meter).

I got 2 manual and 2 solar powered blinds.

My girlfriend fitted them today and took a few pics.
The solar powered blinds are thermal lined and full blackout blinds too.
Have to say, that Im rather impressed with the 4 blinds, but the solar blinds are just so easy and nice to use.

I dont have to worry about getting out of bed and reaching up over 2 meters with a pole to open the blinds.
A click of the remote control and thats all I have to do.

Velux make these blinds very easy to install,as they have a "quick click" system.
The blind frames click on to the inside of the velux frame.

You do need to drill 3 small pilot holes on each side though, this is to screw in the side frames/rails,so that the blinds open and move up and down.

But all in all, very easy to install.

    Sweet.:D

I bought 4 blinds in total.
For the size I got (GGL SO6) the 2 solar blinds were 270 euro each.

The 2 manual ones were alot cheaper, around 130 euro each,or there abouts.

I,ll dig out the invoice tomorrow and check the prices.I also bought an adjustable blind pole for the 2 manual blinds.

Thats why I bought the 2 solar powered blinds aswell.:)

2 manual blinds in the kitchen (PAL Venitian Slate Grey) and 2 solar powered blinds in the bedroom( DSL Blackout Grey).Couldnt be ar5ed in getting in and out of bed and then have to reach up over 2 meters to open or close the blinds in the bedroom,so hense the solar powered blinds in the bedroom.

The extension pole for the kitchen blinds is a bit over priced imo.
I mean, its only a bloody alloy pole with a hook at the end of it.

Just a quick heads up on the "solar powered" blinds.

I was asked by a fellow boards member/friend of mine the other day,if the blinds work straight out of the box??

Yes they do,the battery back is plugged into the bottom housing of the blind, and then you press and hold a "reset" button on the housing for 10 seconds.

After 10 seconds, the blinds moves up and down around 1 cm and you hear a brief buzzing noise. This means that the solar pack is functional and operating.

You then press the "reset" button on the back of the velux remote control.

Thats it,job done and blind will open and close when ever you want it to.:)

The solar panel and battery in the blind itself, does need a few hours sunlight or daylight to come up to full power/strength the next day,but after that ,the blinds are absoluetly flying.

You can also close or open the blind to any amount you desire too.

There is also a maual opening and closing function too, incase the 2 AAA batteries in the remote die and you run out of power.

Overall impressions of the blinds are very good.Full blackout too, absolutely no daylight comes in,once they are closed.

The blind motor does make a little noise when opening or closing, but its not really loud or annoying. Its acceptable to me.

Oh and the blinds take around 15-16 seconds to fully close,or fully open.

Good investment and worth the money.

    Regards.:)
