Heres a thread from a year ago. Might be worth shooting bridestream a PM to ask the state of play.

played it a few times this year and i thought the tee boxes and greens could have been better, Rathcore is a much nicer course always in graet condition and its not to far away

Hey Bazzmundo are you looking to leave Rathcore? How did you find it this past year?

I think I'll be signing up again for sure. Let me know you get on in your search.

This is going to sound strange but I love Rathcore, amazing course, kept immaculately and very sound people but I find it very very difficult. I play elsewhere and it's like a different sport so I'm looking at Knockanally, Moyvalley or Kilcock or the other option of nowhere at the moment. Moyvalley is cheap as chips but I find it a bit grim. I like Knockanally a lot and it's very handy for me but I could not join anywhere and just move round (given I have zero funds...) Bit of a conundrum...

What do you play off Bazzmundo? I play off 13 and I find the index layout a real ball buster. Back nine has 4 holes with no shots and front has 1. In truth I find it the opposite. I think the back nine is much harder.

    Makes getting shots back tough.

Anyway best of luck on the search and let us know how you get on. Might join you in the future!

I play off 23:o I struggle with that in Rathcore (strokes is a non-runner) whereas when I go elsewhere and I feel like a golfing genius at times!

Hi Bazzmundo and All, here's an update on Knockanally.
    • The Club is up and running and has the support of all the relevant stakeholders for the next 2 years.
    • Knockanally is being run on budget and without any debts!!
    • The Current membership is friendly and welcoming and supports the work of the voluntary teams in the club.
    • It has a vibrant membership - both Men and Ladies.
    • Subscription for 2012 is €890 plus GUI/ILGU levy (€840 if you pay before January 31st).
    • Standing Order and Direct Debit facilities are in place with no penalty for spreading payment over 8 months.
    • Current Members have been offered an incentive to encourage new members to join - it's working!
    • The catering is great and the Pro Shop is under the supervision of Martin Darcy, PGA Professional.
    • There is a terrific programme of events for 2012 for both members and visitors.
    • A Society Open Day will take place on Sat. March 3rd - Book your Society in FREE.
    • Society bookings are up on this time last year.
And yes, I am a member of Knockanally and part of the voluntary effort to see it survive long after I hang up my clubs. If anyone needs more info, just send me a PM.
    Regards, Silver Fox

Fair play Silverfox hope the future works out for you guys. FWIW I really liked the course when I played there a few years ago but it's just to far at the current time for me to be able to take a round in as well as other priorities during the day.

Sent you a PM there Silverfox for some more detail.

Lovely course and from what I've heard the members are very welcoming.

I'm off 8 and played Rathcore last year...it was a windy day but still I found myself thinking "damn, Im glad Im not a high handicapper"
I was with some high handicaps and some ladies and there were a couple of holes where they just had no bail out option...which is unfair imho.

All the handicap in the world wont help you if you are forced to carry 200yrds of water on a par 3:rolleyes:

Played Rathcore yesterday. Nice course. The 15th is a brilliant hole!
