Data usage with Minecraft app

My son downloaded the Minecraft demo app at the weekend on my wife's Android HTC Sensation handset.
I had topped her credit up by 30Euro earlier in the afternoon.
Her credit was exhausted when we powered up the phone this morning.

I checked with Vodafone and her prepay account has a 50MB per day allowance.
I know that the app download was probably < 5MB.
Does anyone know if the Minecraft app itself (by default) has recourse to the cellular data network ?
if so how much data does it consume &/or upload ??

ps - Irony is we were in my parents' house which has UPC broadband 24Mbps with wifi router and I could have connected the handset to the wifi network in 1 minute flat if I had known !

I doubt it has a 50MB per day limit, I'm guessing thats the limit for a prepay offer?

Anyway data usage would depend on how much the game was used.

A lot of games involve large downloads after you install the apk. For example, GTA downloads over 400 MB after installation.

Well if he plays one of the network games then it uses a lot of data. That would be my guess.

If you want a reliable way to make sure you don't go over your data allowance you can get an app called 3G watchdog. It will limit your data to whatever you set it per day / month / other period of time.
