Sony Tablet S Major WiFi Issue

    Hey Folks,

I got my missus the Tablet S after she displayed a liking for it. I got it running but just can't get it connected to our WiFi. We have UPC and the much hated (though I've never had any issues) Cisco gateway. At home my computer and HTC Hero have no problem going online via WiFi.

The S was running Android 3.1, I got it to connect no problem to a different WiFi hotspot and updated it to 3.2 but still there's no joy at home.

From Google it, it does appear to be quite the issue. Any forum posts I've read acknowledge the problem but don't quite seem to offer a solution. I'm hoping to get this sorted out as I feel a little disappointed for her. She was quite excited about the idea of laying back on the sofa and checking her mail/facebook etc but that's not looking like it'll happen anytime soon.

Has anyone here experienced the same problem? Is there a work around for it?

I don't have a Cisco gateway here, but it sounds like it may only allow two connections to the router at the same time.

You could test this by switching your phone or computer off and trying the tablet then. If the tablet can connect, then you should look at the router software and increase the allowance from 2 connections at the same time to 3.

The WiFi is off on my phone pretty much all the time- I just tried it to make sure it wasn't the router. So at the moment the only things on WiFi are the computer and the tablet.

Is the router secured? Is the tablet asked for a key or a password? in order to connect? Can you get into the software running the router and check its settings?

The connection is indeed secure and the tablet was asked for the key. I can get into the router but to be honest the options are somewhat mind boggling- I don't know what I'm looking at.

Thanks for the help Tom, it really is appreciated.
