The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission is seeking the public's help in identifying a man who was found seemingly unconscious outside the Arlington Hotel on Lord Edward Street around 6pm on Friday.

The man is of a white complexion and aged in his late 40s or early 50s.

He is of slight build, with greyish hair and a moustache.

Gardaí were called to the scene and the man was subsequently taken to Pearse Street Garda Station.

The man was then taken by ambulance to hospital on Friday night where he remains in a serious condition.

The Garda Ombudsman is asking anybody with information that may be of assistance to contact it on 1890 600 800.

Two things I'm wondering about this.

Firstly, what has it to do with the Ombudsman and how would they have gotten involved so quickly?

Secondly, why is there no picture of this man anywhere if he needs to be identified?

The man appeared to be unconscious when he was arrested, taken to a Garda Station and then onto hospital where he is in a serious condition.

Any contact with the Gardai where somebody who was already in a serious condition (or ends up in a serious condition) must be investigated by the GSOC.

Going to close this as it is an ongoing investigation.
