Vokera Boiler Leaking Water

    Hi All,

Came home this evening and my vokera boiler had leaked quite a lot of water onto the counter. I turned it off. I'm thinking of waiting until Monday to call Bord Gais for a repair but being so close to Xmas, its probably unlikely. Should I just go straight for the yellow pages for a 24 hr emergency callout/repair?

Any ideas on whats wrong with the boiler and advice welcome.

    Many thanks

Is it still leaking , can you see where it leaked from , what is the pressure reading on the gauge , could it have been rain that got into the flue

Unfortunately it's still leaking. Nearly 100% sure it's not rain from the flu. What's the chances of Bord Gais repairing or replacing the boiler in the next 5 days before Christmas?
The pressure is about 0.75bar at the moment.

    Many thanks

Sounds like the heatexchanger is burst (a common fault with them)

What part of the country are you in? (see who I know in that area)
    BG will be over-priced!
Which Vokera is it? Mynute? 12E...or?

The Vokera boilers have the tendency to leak at the safety valve. Not that this is automatically indicating a major problem (it could be though), check where exactly it is leaking.
The manual and an explosion diagram can be downloaded from the manufacturer's home page, showing where the safety valve is. Equipped with this information it could be an easy job to identify and solve the problem.

Has the pressure fallen actually ?

The gas boiler model is Vokera Mynute 14se and I'm located near littlepace, dublin 15. The pressure is now 0 off and 0.50bar on. Lots of water has come out of it in the last 24 hrs so Im not sure its just a leak but I'll take a look. Many thanks.

Assuming the safety valve is piped to outside (as it should be) and the water is UNDER THE BOILER we can pretty much rule out the safety valve (all boilers will do that if the pressure vessel charge is too low or over pressured)

1/100 on the Heatexchanger, your local part supplier is Masseys near Blanch, I do cover that area but wouldn't be able to get to you before Thursday, not soon enough, turn off all the valves under your boiler to stop water flow (especially the two on the lhs) another litre or three may come out after then stop, do not attempt to use your boiler in this state.

Ring Masseys in the morning, the will certainly know someone close by who could get to you, if not contact me directly and I will ring round a few on your behalf if needs be, or you can try your luck with the register on rgii.ie

There can be another few points on this appliance that cause this, a small blanked opening on the lhs of the pump housing has come loose in the past, or your auto-air vent could be stuck open, but still money on the Heatexchanger especially in little pace, Limey water and no inhibitor being the main cause in the area (used to live in Rosedal many moons ago!)

Most Merchants are closing wed/thurs so be quick off the mark in the morning, as with most service technicians, they normally cover breakdowns only this week leaving servicing til the new year, so someone will rush out to you I am sure.
