Got a invite today to wexford duck shooting we met up for 6.45 am and give our hide number i had drawn a good hide fellow wildfowlers had told me . Once i got in my hide 7 am was start of shooting i could here teal and pintail well out of range and geese as light was slow to come minus 2 this morning with a slight west wind i started to seen the ducks a lot of them were out of range i could here shots in the distance . It was my turn 4 mallard came up the channel i gasve them good lead but not enough i have never seen as many geese in my life thousands of them loads in range but out of season teal and pintail mixed in . I got my eye in and shot a nice drake well it would have being better if i was aiming for him i did fire at the lead drake and killed the third one as the light got better the wind started to calm down still the ducks came a lot out of range lots of shooting up and down i bagged a few more i have shot a lot of ducks over the years but nothing would prepare you for this ducks flying at 40 mph with a tail wind . Lots of geese coming over me well with in range i just took my hat off to them as a mark of respect it started to slow down around 11 am i had a great morning a good chat with other guns and back for a big fry up my lab max worked well picking up a nice few ducks including on wounded duck he had dived 3 or 4 times and he kept after him and got him long swim but well worth it pic of some of the bag
