Seizure of car by AGS for no tax

Has there been a change to the minimum period required before a car can be properly seized?

For instance, as far as I am aware it was required that a vehicle must be at least 2 months out of tax before it could be seized (as can be found on the Citizens Information website).

I had a look through the legislation directory on irishstatutebook.ie but can't find anything referring to any such change.

Did this happen to you? or a friend?

Give us more details about the story... there are loads of reasons the car can be seized

Still 2 clear months afaik. Of course that only applies if you actually have a tax disk displayed.

It's a story which happened to a friend of a friend but didn't really get the full details, and because of my legal studies it's was brought to me, so I just wanted to check.

In the meantime until I speak to this friend again later tonight, what effect would the non-displaying of a tax disk entail, Sean? Would that allow a member to seize the car outright?

    Thanks lads

It would provide a reasonable suspicion that the car was not taxed since it was bought.

I don't think a vehicle could be seized just for not having a tax disk displayed?
