Just back from Specsavers (Wilton, Cork) after getting a free eye test. Apparently they are doing them for the whole month of December. Forgot to ask if it applied to all branches but assume it does (can anyone confirm this?)

Should be helpful to anyone living in Cork anyway!

And it's genuinely free, no strings attatched?

Do they give you a copy of your prescription at the end?

    Nice spot OP, thanks!

I got it done yesterday for new glasses but when I went to pay the bill they said my PRSI would cover the eye test, so they charged somebody for it, it just wasnt me.

    Terms and conditions

Valid for full eye tests booked on or before 31 December 2011. Subject to availability. Excludes customers eligible to a free eye test with PRSI cover or Medical Card. Offer available in all ROI stores.

Sounds pretty clear-cut to me. If they give you the prescription at the end, then I'm booking a test on Monday.

Well I was given the all clear anyway. I don't think it would be in Specsaver's best interests to try to swindle 20/20 vision customers into buying glasses.

How will they know if you have a prsi or medical card entitlement if you've never used the retailer before?

Yes they do give you a copy if requested, no strings attached, I got mine done during the week, no big changes from my last test 5 years ago, so she said no need to get new glasses . Also got a free hearing test done, I didn't know about it but they just asked me while doing my eye test.
