Morning all looking for some advice. Painted chimney breast wall last night a nice rich wine colour, over the cream fireplace and down the sides of it. This wall is not in line with the other wall as there is an alcove of about a foot wither side of the chimney breast if this makes sense. Just painted the face of the chimney wall and wondering should the sides of the breast be also painted in the wine colour. thanks and any advice appreciated.

Painting only the face will look like something incomplete. I would suggest to paint sides as well.

I agree. I'd paint the side although there are no rules. It's your house and you should paint it the way you like best.
