    Morning folks.

Any civic amenity type facilities as per Ballymount in North Kildare? Need to dispose of household waste and recycling.

    Thanks.

Silliot Hill Kilcullen is the only one designated for North Kildare.

Depending on where you are in N. Kildare, Ballymount isn't that far away.

There is a large metal receptacle for bins on the Clane side of Sallins which I think charges €3 a bag but I don't know how it works.

Silliot Hill appear to have a mininum charge even for "free" recycling which Ballymount doesn't.

Domestic Recyclables (Car €3.00, Car and trailer / Van / Jeep €5.00) (no charge by weight)
    • Corrugated Cardboard.
    • Greyboard (Cornflake Boxes etc.)
    • Newsprint.
    • Magazines (Wrappers removed)
    • Waste Paper
    • Plastics of Categories 1, 2, 4 & 6 only (Placed into appropriate Bins)
    • Glass Bottles (Placed into appropriate bins)
    • Aluminium Cans (Placed into container provided)
    • Metal Cans (Cleaned and placed into container provided)
    • Clothes (Placed into container provided)
    • Electrical Goods
Waste for Landfilling €203/Tonne (incl Landfill Levy), (€5 minimum charge)
    Domestic/Commercial Waste:
    21 - 40Kgs - €8.12
    41 - 60Kgs - €12.18
    61 - 80Kgs - €16.24
    81 - 100Kgs - €20.30

adding €4.06 for every 20Kgs thereafter
    • Domestic Waste
    • Furniture
    • Bulky Items
    • Plastics of Categories 3 & 5
    • Timber
    • Non Separated & Segregated Recyclables

    Thank you for the information.

Where is this recepticle near Clane please.

    Thanks.

It's in the village of Sallins.
On the left - just before you over the canal bridge (Clane side) there is a small number of retail units parallel to the main road but set back from it.
The receptacle for bin bags is in front of one of them.

Didn't know that - that's great for me. Thanks again.

KCC's attitude to recycling is that its something they're forced to do and resent doing it.

There is a recycling centre in Trim.

Apparently there's another bag pay/drop off point in Clane itself near the Petrol Station.

Drop the bag in the shoot and pay E5.

Must check it out but tbh given the price it's worth me saving my rubbish and recyclables and heading to Ballymount.

    Noticed today in passing :-

This still charges €4 per bag.
But the one in Sallins only charges €3 per bag.

Any extra recycling we have we bring to Coolmine. Domestic stuff is free.

I usually go to Ballymount recycling depot but Coolmine would be handy to combine with a visit to Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

But when brought to the recycling centre it's only free in Dublin.
Please note that from January 2009, Kildare County Council will charge €3 per car and €5 for car and trailer / van / 4x4. The only exception will be vehicles that are carrying electrical goods only as there can be no charge on these items. The charge is to offset the running costs of this facility and the Council has taken this step reluctantly to ensure the viability of the facility.
