We had interivews for a production operator job a few weeks ago, told a guy he had the job, the next day Dunnes and LIDL both offered him a job (shelf packing). The guy took the dunnes job for 2 weeks while waiting to start with us, there are jobs out out there for those willing to work.

Well done OP, best of luck.

I usually just read this forum but I had to comment on this since I was having a conversation with someone today on changing careers, one of the obstacles that came up was switching to a new career but what I discovered what turned people off was starting at the bottom, people liked to retain their high position, even in a crappy job, was it like that for you Op?

Well in my particular case I came from the ****ty IT position and I got a job highly beyond my expectations. Although I had no previous professional experience they decided to take a risk and it all turned to be my second nature, as I used to deal with the stuff as a hobby. So anything I've learned at home is going to come very handy now - my pleasure, twice more money - I'm happy, they're happy - everyone's happy.

Kinda lame when you explain your jokes. The humour is in the subtlety. At least you know for next time...

Now thats very interesting that you mention that, I was also reading this book called the Element by Ken Robinson, its about tapping into your passion and what you enjoy in life and doing it for a living, he goes onto say that some of the happiest people are those doing what they love, or their hobbies as jobs, obviously, but that earning alot of money wasn't a big factor in their dream job.
(I reccommend this book to anyone trying to find their purpose in life, especially in a job type situation.

Well I never really cared about money, I have enough to live and support my family. I don't really give a sh1t about money.

All I care about is to DO something interesting, be useful, develop, get more knowledge. Me, myself, my level of knowledge. Money comes with it as a "side effect" :)

    I like your oddness.

Money not being the end all and be all, seems to be an odd way of thinking.

No change from the ould "Tiger" in so many ways.

Hope all goes well for you.
