    Hi all,
heating system not working great for a good while( just a few rads working)then gas boiler went down .Plummer replaced heat exchanger ( for a mere 550 euros!) He says there is alot of sh1t in the system and says it needs flushing ( again a mere 450 euros! ) . my system is fed from our main tank in attic through a tap in hotpress and a non return valve,I opened system beneath non return valve and added clenser then reconnected and turned on feed tap and started heating up.Have i done right ?Should i leave feed tap on? and what do I do next.
Sorry for lengh of post and thanks alot for any advice.I would love to fix this myself as plummer and kids have already bled me dry for christmas!!

    Hi,

We have just replaced a boiler a couple of weeks ago, Last year between flushing the system out and replacing a safety valve we spent nearly 700eu, Im so sorry we didnt replace last year, I am NO plumber but as far as I can make out once particular things start to fail on a boiler that is it, this is from talking to neighbors in our estate who have had to replace their boilers.

Probably not much help but best of luck, nothing worse that no heat :(
