GFCH issues with 2 Radiators

    Hello,

My mums CH was working fine last year, but then 2 radiators downstairs aren't heating up now. One in the kitchen, and one in the sitting room.

There's a valve/regulator thingy on the larger radiator in the sitting room that's just sitting on top of the connection, not screwed in. I took it off and there's only a loose pin stopping the water coming out. I took the pin off and the water spurted up, so I replaced the pin and this actually seems to have fixed that radiator somewhat. It's getting hot at the top, but not so hot at the bottom. Maybe just needs more bleeding? Anyway, what's the story with the valve? How do I connect it? The pin prevents it from being screwed down, even if I used downward pressure. Don't want to push too hard.

The other smaller radiator is in the kitchen and doesn't heat up at all. Tried bleeding it but not much luck there. Made sure both valves were fully on. Tried opening and closing the big valve several times. The only change was when I tried opening the bleed screw to bleed the radiator. That caused the pipe between the wall and the small valve to get hot, but it's as if that valve is blocked and only a tiny trickle of hot water is getting through and into the radiator. The piping into/out of the larger valve did not get hot but just very slightly warm, IIRC. All this was done when the heating was on. The radiator nearest the wall does seem very very slightly warmer while the outer one is cold. Definitely no sound of water flowing through.

    Any advice appreciated.

Have attached a couple of pics.

    :-)

    Hi
I know its four years ago :confused:did you get the radiator working i have a similar problem?.I replaced a radiator (upstairs) and cannot get it to heat I bled the rad and had difficulty filling it ,it filled to a point and I could not see water coming out of the bleed screw but could hear air being expelled. It might be the thermostatic valve sticking or an airlock.Did the usual thing turned off all radiators except the one not workings switched on heating hoping to get rad to heat and fill no luck.I am now going to replace the thermostatic valve. Just a quick question has anybody replaced a valve without turning off the water .Like empty the radiator
remove radiator off wall and then try to (very quickly) replace valve without draining system with lots of towels.
