Beer gut side effects

Aside from making you look pudgy and generally unhealthy looking, are there any other long term side effects to having a beer gut?

I think I am the only one out of my friends who is most active ( i cycle a lot) and my alcohol consumption would not be as great as theirs, hence the lack of beer belly.

    :D

There's a much higher risk of developing an umbilical hernia, and if/when the individual does take things in hand and loose the weight/belly, there's a good chance they'll be left with an amount of loose skin around their waist.
I have first-hand knowledge of both of these conditions. :(

I'd say most of the drawbacks have to do with how people will view you cuz you look chubby
