I bought a "saorview approved" tv a few months back and wish to split the upc cable with a saorview indoor aerial, they both work fine on there own but when I try to spilt the aerial with the cable the saorview signal is lost

What you need is a Triax TFC 3537 combiner. This combines the UPC signal (below channel 35) with the Saorview signal (above ch 37) on channel 54. If you PM me, I will supply one to you.

If you use broadband from UPC, use the combiner after the broadband split.

But isn't the upc signal on the same channel or near enough to saorview or it wouldn't be cutting out?

UPC uses channel below 35, and Saorview is on Chan 54 in Dublin.

    You still need an aerial.

Ah cool so would an indoor aerial work with this?

That depends on your local conditions. I can use a simple aerial where I am, but an external one is much better. You can try it by connecting the aerial directly to your TV instead of the UPC cable connection.
