a girl who wants to be a medium...

hi all, a friend of mine who is a plumber was called to do a repair in a house the other day, so he got chatting to the girl who owns the house. she looked a bit freaked out so he asked if she was ok? she said she had a medium call to the house over the weekend who told her about 'activity' in the house and all that.

she said she was very interested in this subject and has had experiences of her own, she wants to be a medium herself. so anyway the medium was impressed by this but proceeded to tell her that in order to do this she would have face her biggest fear, and was able to tell her that this was her fear of the dark.

here's what i consider to be the strange part, he told her in order to progress as a medium she would have to be buried upside down in a box under ground for 24 hours, she is now considering this 'test' and is prepared to go ahead with this, i could be wrong but i think that this is very strange, i don't know who this medium guy is but i can find out.

what do you guys think of this?

I didn't become a medium until I cut down on my carbs and went jogging every day.

Cheers for that Frada. Please have a look at the charter while youre here. I know all the medium jokes too, but we try not to go off topic with em. Ta.

Op, I got to be honest, we take on a lot of strange stories here but so much about yours doesn't make sense that I'm really having trouble with it.

    She told her plumber this?
The medium wasn't David Blaine was he? Because there isn't any aspect of mediumship anywhere that involves burial. Unless you count the dead folk who are six feet under.

I don't know who in this story is the one telling fibs. But one of them is. Its the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. No way is the 'test' for real. :)

Surely if there is such a thing as a genuine medium, this is not something you can decide to become, i assume you either are or you are not.

thanks for your reply on this Oryx, to be honest my thoughts were pretty much the same as yours when i was told this, i can assure that my plumber friend is telling the truth, i do know this girl's sister fairly well but i only know the girl we're talking about to see her.
the plumber knows this girl quite well and she talks openly about stuff, i can find out who this medium is and pm on his name to you, perhaps you might have heard of him before.

I'm going to come right out and say, that i wouldint get into that box for love nor money!

You dont get special powers by doing silly magic tricks, climbing into dangerous holes in the ground and putting your life at risk. Spiritualism and mediumship are gifts. Some recognise it early in life, some never even realise what they have. Some are scared of it and choose to ignore it. Some go on to nurture and develope it.

I can pretty much guarantee your friend that choosing to lock herself in a box in a hole in the ground for 24 hours will do nothing short of traumatise her.

No doubt there will be a hefty fee for said trauma. Meditate, in the dark if she feels the darkness will help get her in touch with her spiritual side.

Girl needs to go to the Gardai . This so called medium seems to have disturbing mental issues , and could harm someone

That seems utterly ridiculous, I hope you can talk her out of it! I thought being a medium was one of those gifts you were born with anyway that would be otherwise unattainable..

i'll be meeting the said girl next week to have a chat and tell her what you guys have been saying, if she wants to pursue the whole medium thing there is groups she can join and do it properly, i'll definitely be telling her not to go through with this 'test' or 'initiation ceremony' this chancer was on about, as was said in a previous post, 'utterly ridiculous', i couldn't agree more...

You don't have to be 'born with it' to be a medium. Every person has some aspect of it within them, that's my belief anyway, some have it well hidden, blocked, or some just don't want to go further with it.

I myself attend mediumshop development classes and I can tell you, I didn't have to get into a box!!! lol

The woman who said that needs a wee bit of help I think.

sounds like that other 'medium' doesnt want any more competition in the business

Suggesting getting buried in a box sounds like the kind of thing that I'd say and I'd be taking the mick. Did he say anything about scattering odlum's self raising flour on the floor?

If clairvoiance exists then I wouldn't say that being buried is necessary to 'turn it on'. Being buried is incredibly dangerous. Soil is very heavy and the risk of a box collapsing and possibly killing the occupant is very real. Check out the Mythbusters episode where they look at being buried alive.

If this girl really is interested in trying to develop any skill she thinks she may have then I'm sure that there are safer ways to go about it.

I think your friend has to think outside the box for this - underground car park could be an option and the box can be upside down - not necessarily her. Don't understand why she would want to do this. I personally don't think you can train to be a medium but I do think you can be trained to read people.

    Jesus..
I hope she doesn't really have to be told not to do this.
I'm guessing the person who advised her was referring to shamanic death of sorts. People don't choose this stuff.

Sounds like the biggest load of nonsense that i've ever heard. Dangerous nonsense at that.

I'd advise your friend to stop wasting her time and money on con artists.

Absolute crap! Alarm thing is the said person is totally fake personality. He is just pretending what he is not.

just a quick update on the situation, i haven't met the girl yet but i advised my friend to fill her in on what you guys have been saying and i'm glad to say that some common sense has been given to her and she has thankfully changed her mind, she is now going to the route suggested by a previous poster and is hoping to talk to the correct groups who will will not ask her to do some ridiculously dangerous stuff, thanks guys...
