Understanding my Rehau thermostat

Hi chaps, we've got a house with earth-water geothermal underfloor heating. Each room/zone is controlled by individual thermostats, which is great, but one thermostat in particular confuses me. It has an additional attachment that plugs into it, on the right, which has a switch that moves up to a moon icon, middle to a null value and bottom to a clock. Any idea what this means?

Generally speaking, as I understand it we have a time function (also pictured) that defines the hours of operation which is then controlled during those same hours by the thermostat. It's that additional setting that confuses me, not sure how it affects the operation and want to get the most out of the system!
