    Ring "the Garage"

Not sure about the wing mirror, but you will be paying alot more for the privlege of getting the bulb done in the garage.

A few quid from your local auto shop, a few minutes flicking through your car manual and changing it your self will save you a good bit.

Go on Ebay, get specific mirror glass for your car for under €20. Simple fit.
The bulb might only be a few euro. Dont know how awkward they are to fit on your car.

go to a carshop and just buy the mirror glass and stick it over the broken one cost about 10 euro

Don't know about a Polo but I had a 2007 Golf and was geting intermittent warnings about a blown bulb, it was the front offside parking light so clearly needed to be pulled out and reseated.

Read the manual which said it was a garage job but as it was only a parking bulb I decided to give it a go. I opened the bonnet and discovered that they weren't joking, I just couldn't get at it.

go to any motor factors, or most petrol stations sell bulbs

    then read the manual

    and do it yourself

We charge €10 inc fitting for a H7 headlight bulb. I don't think I should have to make any apologies for the price. I think €6 for fitting is very reasonable to avoid the hassle of sourcing the bulb, reading the manual, and getting your hands dirty doing it yourself. I have to say I don't like the assertion in your post that €10 fitted for a headlight bulb is somehow a rip off or "celtic tiger" price.

It is also a small price to pay to ensure it is done properly. The amount of incorrectly fitted headlight bulbs I see is unbelievable, people put them in sideways or upside down, they break the retaining clips and electrical connections. On a lot of cars access is very tight and the methods of securing the bulb in the headlight vary so you need to know what you are at. What many people don't realise is that if the bulb is not 100% correctly in place the headlight pattern will be all over the place.

Have a go changing the bulb yourself. Every motorist should learn to do somthing like that themselves.

€10 fitted is very reasonable. What if its a particularily messy one to get at?

I would beat a path to your door if you only charged 10 euro to change the bulb on Mrs CML's Renault Modus, a task which involves disassembling the front of the car.:)

But joking aside it can be a relatively simple job (Modus aside) if you know what you're doing.
Sadly it seems from reading Boards over the years that we are gradually becoming more useless as a race.

    Reasonable indeed..
When I bought my Passat two years ago the folder was full of receipts...
They were going to a VW dealer for everything
€30 for a bulb fitted, and they went back... there were three/four receipts for the same
