    Hello,
For the last 4 weeks I have not been able to keep RTE radio "on" so to speak. I listen via my computer and within 5 minutes the program just drops out. I keep having to return to the RTE radio website and clicking on the symbol for the channel I am listening to...usually Radio 1 . Anybody else have this problem? Has something changed in the protocol as to tuning in? Thanks...

That usually happens if your broadband connection drops out, I was listening at home with my 25mb line last few days and it was fine, I would say if your using one of those usb keys for the internet it would happen though.

Thanks for sending me the link to "Speedtest". I am on a large commercial network or system that does not allow me "priviledges" such as using/downloading software other than what is approved.
I can't seem to get to the two-tone green page at RTE.ie where I would click on "Windows Media" and the "buffering" would take place, whatever that is! For the last few weeks a page in black/blue with large circles with the name of the various stations inside the circles appears . I click on Radio 1, a page for the current program that is on the station at that time appears and I click on icon to " listen", which I do for about 5 to 10 minutes and then suddenly the audio drops and the program is gone- I have repeated these steps several times and get the same result.

RTÉ recently upgraded the quality of their streams to 96kbps.
Is your connection able to cope with such bandwidths?

I don't know. But either way I am not able to change or upgrade any software if that is where the problem is. I have tried some simple downloads in the past and am not allowed to accept them. Thanks to all for the replies.

Probably best to just buy a cheap radio.

Open up Windows Media player, File > Open URL and paste in the following...

    http://dynamic.rte.ie/av/live/radio/radio1.asx

That should stream it directly, it's how I listen when I'm in work, the website never worked for me.
