    Mate has one of these....

from what he just told me...

    good

    pic and sound grand
media player worked ok but limited

    bad
occasionally freezes whejn watching tv (maybe once or twice a week)
pvr terrible, can only record what you are watching
more often than not hangs the box when recording
hangs the box when you go to playback recording
only brought in 7 of the 8 irish channels (misses which ever of rte+1 or rtejr is not broadcasting at the time you scanned)

    That's his two cents anyway.

These are twin tuner PVR boxes what will let you record one channel whilst watching a different TV channel.

The cheapest combo around so far..
Do anyone knows this IMS seller?

Edit: sorry I did not see : minimum order qty x10. .
plus shipping and oher factors that contribute to higher retail price
so might be not cheaper than polish made combos...

They are not 'twin' tuner, they have two tuners and terrestrial one and a sat one. And having seen in in my mates house since, no, you cannot record one and watch another and evrything else I had previous written is true.

Cheap as chips but if you want it for recording purposes forget it.

My Ferguson Ariva 120 combo is half-dead only DVB-S part working (This seems to be a common problem with this model of Ariva) so Im looking for cheap replacement. It is worth a try...

Are you not able to tune in or get any DTT channels at all?

I'd check the aerial/connections/dist amp etc.. before you condemn the box.

Have you checked the terrestrial installation menu for signal, or re scanned the box?

I have tested a borrowed polish combi box to test the prob and it works just fine.I'm  not the only one facing this problem a friend of mine had a similar issue

DVB-T tuner: ...., suitable for .... UK FreeView HD

It won't do Freeview HD unless the tuner is DVB-T2, so this is a mistake.

    Hi Seamus

Thanks for the links - I have seen one of these a while back. They are fairly basic alright. Biggest problem is support. If there are any issues - such as lack of extended epg info on DVB-T or other issues with channel lists etc then you wont get an answer.

Reason is the Infinity 2000s are made by Sinkha and branded for a Croatian company. English language support for Irish issues will be difficult to get answers on.

There are now plenty of HD combo boxes that are sub €100. I will post a full list of those in the terrestrial forum before the weekend so that you can weigh up the options.

For me the must now for a combo box is wifi access with youtube. That can be had for sub €140 at present.

    I've seen a ST3000HD on ebay.ie.

What are these boxes like to use, anyone tried them? What extra does the 3000 have over the 2000?
