    Grudge Match

    Steve Corino vs. Kevin Steen

*If Steen wins he is reinstated.

**Jimmy Jacobs is the guest referee

***Jim Cornette will be in attendance at ringside

    Roderick Strong Invitational Challenge

Roderick Strong with Truth Martini vs. ????

    Tag Team Gauntlet Match

The All Night Express vs. Future Shock vs. The Bravados vs. The Young Bucks vs. Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander

*The winning team will receive a future shot at the World Tag Team Titles

    Special Challenge Match

"Unbreakable" Michael Elgin with Truth Martini vs. TJ Perkins

    Also scheduled to appear:

    - Tommaso Ciampa with The Embassy

I wont beat a dead horse about the TV show but this will still be a good show and something to watch over Christmas even with the hype compared to last year's show is non-existent.

Most people are speculating that the person who answers the Roderick Strong Invitational Challenge will be
    Nigel McGuinness
. To the degree if it doesnt happen people will be disappointed.

Looks a good card and kicks off at 12.30 so it is not too late to be staying up waiting for it to start.

Have ROH done any DVD shows since DBD? My usual source has dried up completely.

Surely they should advertise (and make a big deal over) Desmond Ruffy's big return to the ring in ROH.
It'd be a bit of a waste to throw it out as a random mystery man thing.

I get what you are saying but advertising a full match would elevate expectations of what he can do.

But odds are he'll still meet those expectations anyway even if he shouldn't.

I don't think advertising Nigel McGuiness would do much to bump ROH PPV buyrates tbh, or add to the numbers in live attendance. Keep ita secret and you get a nice pop for a mid card match at the very least and as rovert says if he's ring rusty peopel will cheer him regardless.

    Nope:
We would like to issue an apology to all the members of ROHWrestling.com who received an email last night informing them that their account was canceled. This was a message sent in error during our Web Development Team's process of making site improvements around 3AM this morning. The delivery of the message was accidentally triggered during the upgrades, but all accounts are in fact still active, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our faithful members. Thank you for your understanding.

    Site is blocked in work.

    How much is the PPV?

How reliable is the stream and what quality?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,089 ✭✭✭✭rovert

    $15 dollars.

The live stream gets mixed reviews legitimately ranging from ****e to great. All a matter of preference than boardband speed in my opinion. It is fairly good IMO.

    Is it in HD?

    720p?

Does a purchase of the iPPV come with access to an archive of it?

The fact that Kevin Steen is trending worldwide on Twitter at the moment tells you little of an accomplishment trending on Twitter really is. I assume Richards and Edwards did their usual fake MMA match?

    I skipped matches but:

Michael Elgin is an absolute beast. He should have gotten the push Bennett got. TJ Perkins still sucks.

Steen vs Corino and the post match was brilliant. Really wanted to see Cornette dropped on his head though. Jacobs' loooooooooooooong delay between two and three was great as well. Id rather they didnt re-do Steen vs Generico though, at least not this soon. Let Generico go for the TV title and Steen for the World title. Give them about another year apart before having them do battle again.

Dissapointed Hero lost on his return because Strong isnt going anywhere, he's reached his level and wont get any higher. A loss wouldnt have hurt him and would have given him something to complain about for a while (didnt know who his opponent was). If Hero stays, he has to be in the world title picture. He'd be wasted anywhere else. At least it wasnt a clean loss so he has claim to a rematch if he stays.

I was pissed off at the start of the tag titles match and was expecting it to be thrown out before it even started. But it made the end result that much better and achieved the goal of turning both teams. Hopefully the Briscoe's dont revert back to the pussy babyfaces they were the last time which caused nearly everyone to turn on them. They are popular because of their current attitude. Keep them like that.

The main event was as expected for a Davey Richards match. Good but nothing worth going out of your way to see. The ending was a little limp as well as seems to be the usual with Richards matches these days. They would have been better served having the tag titles end the show.

This was a real pain to get through. The show overall was too long and nearly every match was too long. Elgin is the guy they should hang the entire company on, give him the 'Mark Henry push' because he's the most marketable guy on their roster. I'm surprised they did the double turn and then took the belts off Haas and Benjamin, surely it would've been better to put The Briscoes in babyface chase mode.

That tag gauntlet match was needlessly long. They could've achieved the same thing in 10-12 minutes without the gauntlet. The main event was just meh. They'd be much better off establishing one submission each and building the match around it instead of a ton of submissions that the crowd just doesn't buy. They'd be better off getting infinitely more out of one kick instead of very little out of tons of them. The whole popping up after big moves is just stupid. And 40+ minutes is just too long when they'd have a much better match in 20. And do they realise with the whole MMA style presentation that it's not actually MMA that people pay to see? Plus Steen is the biggest babyface in the company despite being a heel.

Steen is exactly what WWE failed to do with Punk. The anti hero who does what he wants when he wants and is loved for it by the fans. WWE failed by turning Punk into another run of the mill baby face while ROH have left Steen heel and actually gone out of their way to ensure he keeps being presented as such.

But it becomes a booking nightmare when you book him against other faces and he's much more popular. The way the crowed reacted to him putting Generico through the table killed any real effectiveness of the angle. The authority (and World champ) needs to be the heel here with him being far more popular than everybody else. Otherwise it's just confused.

I haven't been watching the tv show lately but I got the feeling that Davey was showing a bit of a heel turn in his actions during the match. It's not out of the realm of posisibility that he turns heel before the feud with Steen begins properly, or even early on when the fans are all on Steens side. I'm guessing Generico is out for a little while, otherwise that was a pointless spot. Therefore they don't need to worry about both guys being cheered and even when they do face off again, there is nothing wrong with having a split crowd and several really popular guys on the roster.

Dave Meltzer has a dirty great big state of the promotion/show review in the latest Observer. ROH on Sinclair is no longer this tremendously logically booked TV show it seems :P. Long and short of it is that this show did 2,000 buys which is slightly less than a show in the Summer which the build up occurred when their last TV contact ran out. Although you can point the 23rd December being a bad day for a PPV ROH fanboy expectation was triple or more the 2,000 figure.

ROH in a TNA style move is clamping down on business figures too which isnt a good sign.
