Hi all, this is my first post here on Boards, just looking for some advice/experience to help me out with a problem.

I was at a show last night in the Olympia. Afterwards, myself and a couple of friends waited outside the Stage Door to the side of the theatre, with about 6 other people, in the hope of meeting the actors and getting an autograph..I was hoping to get an autograph for a friend who couldn't make it to the show...I was at the same show back in March 2011, where we met the actors outside afterwards, so I figured we'd hang about as you do..

Time went on and we were standing out in the rain for about 40 minutes without anything happening...People were coming out of the stage door, I approached and said "Excuse me" to one of the bouncers..I literally popped my head in the door, didn't enter the premises at all, and he grabbed me by the collar and threw me to the street, I jumped up and said "I was just asking you something, asking could he help with an autograph for a friend", he said "I don't care, you're not asking me anything", and with this pushed and pulled me on the street, tore my coat, which is now completely torn, and closed the door...

Does anyone have experience of this type of thing? I wasn't acting aggressive or disorderly, I was simply asking him a question...I want to complain but not sure who to, I expect to be provided with money to replace the coat...

    Thanks for any replies..Much appreciated..

The Olympia bouncers are notorious *****. Completely unhelpful and extremely aggressive. I'm not sure who you should complain to but I would start by ringing the Olympia and asking to speak to whoever the duty manager is and go from there.

I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see how you get on OP. Best of luck

Contact the Garda about the common assault. Contact the venue management company and promotion company and lodge a formal complaint about the bouncer. Fairly logical.

Make a formal complaint. And follow through with it.

A tee-totaller friend of mine was stopped in Cork once because.

"....you have too much on board". Thick as a pig in shít.

Contact the Gardai ASAP, I would imagine the area is covered by cctv and this will be helpful in your case.

Ring the Duty Manager as suggested.
Explain what happened and tell them you want an apology and a new coat.

Tell them if the matter is not dealt with quickly and to your satisfaction you will be making a formal complaint against the premises and the bouncer in question at your local Garda station.
