At meal time, go sit with the girl instead of with your friends.

Its polite to say something like "Can I join you?".

Let on you are planning a trip to Italy and ask her about good places to go - will be a nice ice-breaker ;)

If you don't, you'll beat yourself up so bad for ever wondering what would have happened if you had.
