No mention of Alan Lee and Donal McDermott of Huddersfield and Greg Cunningham is listed under Notts Forest as well as City.

If this is all that's required for you to be interested then you should try... you know.... a book or something.

Ah in fairness he's just providing some information for discussion so that people can discuss players who should or should not be in the squad for the European Championships.

    David Connolly's still playing? Jayses!!

Theres also Michael Liddle at Sunderland and young Steven McCarthy a Cork boy signing for the Academy this Summer. Whoops just read a previous post I'm not saying these two should be considered for the Euros just pointing out that they are with SAFC.

Players playing in Ireland shouldn't be considered for the National team.

    Obviously.

Sorry Des, I thought we were just compiling random pointless lists.

Anthony Pilkington and Marc Tierney of Norwich too.

It's been a while since I bought a paper but don't the Irish times list all the Irish players in Britain every Monday?

That seems very pointless if true.

Sorry they don't just list them. They give
their stats as well, no of appearances, goals etc

Its a decent idea OP, keeping a list of anyone who may be eligible for selection and monitor their progress throughout the season.

One thing I will say though is that threads like that are pointless around here, as the attention span in relation to international football on boards is all of 5 minutes. nobody will have the patience to seek out this thread to update progress etc... rather they will start a new thread instead and there'll be the inevitable response "not another one of these".

Your thread will end being disregarded in favour of the very same issue under a different title. Merging the lot of them would do the trick.

Just calling a spade a spade

There are other sites out there with a hardcore group of Irish international followers where they will update progress of irish players on a week by week basis.

Pity they don't do the same with plumbers. Would be interesting to see a weekly update of their call out rates, time spent etc

Not very bright are you? You know what the op's intention was, why feel the need to slag it off?

Something similar to your need to do the same here, minus the personal abuse that you decided to go for of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,628 ✭✭✭LowOdour

    OP, your formatting is horrendous!
    for example this

    Ciaran Clark
    Graham Burke
    Birmingham City

    Stephen Carr
    Colin Doyle
    Adam Rooney
    Keith Fahey
    Blackpool

    Billy Clarke

    should read like this
    Birmingham City
    Stephen Carr
    Colin Doyle
    Adam Rooney
    Keith Fahey

    Blackpool
    Billy Clarke

I see the point of your post, but the squad is pretty much set in stone at this stage id say, and the stand-by players should be easy enough to figure out too. there are a few players there I dont know about, so for that perspective its worth keeping an eye out for them

Indeed. If you think thats personal abuse then i apologise, lighten up a bit

    Bit of a contradiction there.

They probably would if there was interest but apart from you and a maybe one or two others, no one else cares. On the other hand there are people who are interested in seeing how Irish lads are getting on and whether they're getting a game or scoring goals etc.

Abit pointless when Trappatoni is going to pick those who he was used in the qualifying campaign, and even at that some of them will be getting the chop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,889 ✭✭✭tolosenc

It's grand, though. Villa broke his leg, so Spain will start Torres and us and Italy will go through.

Tomorrow..... Irish players playing in Moldova

i dont get this thread. Loads of irish in english league is pretty obvious, we are so close its on a higher level and higher facilities.

In my opinion we should thank the english for training our players to a point where we can compete internationally.

No disrespect to LoI intended they do great things with kids but can only bring them so far without the money

And we don't thank them enough by pumping millions into their clubs every year?

could ask you the same question.

My point was your attitude toward english football is backward. However that is an opinion so i may be wrong.

My attitude towards English football is the same as my attitude towards Spanish football, Italian football or Dutch football.

well done, but your "pumping millions into their clubs" comment to me is ridiculous.

If I wanna support a team from tanzania then thats my choice. No point in being kind of bitter about it

I didn't mention a word about who you support or why you support them. You're the one getting defensive. All I said that was we certainly are in no way indebted to English clubs for their services to Irish football given how much money has been pumped into them from this country. You're making yourself look very silly here.

in my opinion we do owe a lot to english clubs for the quality of some of the players we've had.

Why are you making reference to money being pumped in from this country. If the government aren'tpaying it I dont care where people spend there money. Nor should you but you do.

Anyway i smell EPL v LoI, i'm off

You're trying to dig yourself out of a hole (possibly your own) by making out that I'm representing an argument that I'm not. I didn't make a critical word about what people spend their money on, I merely pointed out that we have a nation have done as much for their football (if not way more) than they have for us. But you clearly want to twist things seeing as you've been talking tripe from the beginning.

I made a point. You then made a very bitter sounding point in reference to my point. Thats why I immediately went defensive. Sorry if it appeared I put words in your mouth. Wasn't my intention, i think we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one
