Creating a app launch routine on start-up.

I'm using Zoneminder as a server for 4 IP cameras. I'd like to set the system up so that when the computer is switched on and the user logs in they will be presented with the montage view of the cameras.

So I've got two problems here, firstly how to make the start-up routine and secondly what order to run it in. Zoneminder (ZM) uses My-SQL and at the moment it's starting up before the database. This means ZM is not running when it boots and needs to be made to run. If it starts up second it will be running as soon as it sees MySQL. Can I make ZM sleep before it boots?

After that I need to open a Firefox window with the ZM database address, problem here is that since there's video streaming in, I can't seem to save a HTML page and use that as a start-up file. Setting the address as the home page means that Firefox opens the ZM window even if I want to just surf the net! Not ideal.

So I need to find a way to display launch a webpage on start-up as well as be able to launch my normal browser to a different home page.

    Any ideas?

    EDIT> On Ubuntu BTW :o)
