I was wondering, which brands of alcohol are made in Ireland by Irish-owned companies these days? Anyone know?

Aside from the craft breweries there is...

    Coole Swam Liquer.

    Cooley Whiskey Distillery

Excellent, thanks folks! I just want to know that my drinks are helping the economy instead of hurting it (as much as my liver). :)

Looks like this is going into foreign hands. Jim Beam have bought Cooley.

    Full (PDF) press release here.

I'm sure it won't make any difference to the quality of their products, but I'm sad that there's no longer any Irish-owned whiskey maker.

sad news all right, good money for the Teelings though. who knows the might open another distillery in a few years time.

Presumably this will provide more incentive to new entrants to the Irish market e.g. Dingle Whiskey, Porterhouse etc.

    Dingle Whiskey, Porterhouse
Same company. Dunno how that's going but progress is slooooow. The distilling business isn't something that can be entered lightly.

Ciders: Devils Bit and Kepplers are fully Irish I think.

Yup, owned and made by Gleeson's.

And C&C's Bulmers is all-Irish too.

The original plan has been shelved and a brewery developed in the original site of the old creamery. I believe they are going to try their hand at whiskey too, while the Porterhouse are planning a distillery in another location in Dingle, so there may be two. I'm open to correction on this, of course.

That's what I heard too, but that was well over a year ago and nothing's happened.

That Dingle Brewing are planning to give distilling a go is a new one on me, however.

I mean there is one coming to the market. Soon(though in whiskey terms, soon is a long time).
