Ok so ive just downloaded minecraft on my laptop its not a very good one. I like the look of the game and id love to play it more but as soon as I open it my cpu jumps to 100 percent and stays there for the whole time while I play and because of this the laptop obviously gets very hot and I cant keep playing in case it overheats. I did some checks online and a lot of people are saying that if you use a different type of file instead of .exe it will work better but I have no idea how to do this.

As you can probably tell Im not a computer genious of any kind so if someone could explain it step by step it would help if there is a solution. It could be that my laptop just isnt good enough and if this is the case is there a way of running a simpler version of the game because I cant afford a better laptop (Student)

Laptop is a toshiba satellite, 2gb ram, 64 bit windows, AMD V140 processor 2.30 GHz

try spoutcraft, may or may not be of any help but its worth a try
    http://dev.bukkit.org/client-mods/spoutcraft/
    under 'users' click the exe
run this instead of the minecraft exe
check the graphics options for anything you can turn down

There are a few basic things that can be done to try and improve the FPS of the game. For example (in-game) press "Esc", go to Options, Video Settings and change graphics to fast, render distance to short, performance to power saver, view bobbing : off, Advanced OpenGL : off,

basically turn everything down or off... if that doesn't work then try assigning more memory to the game. I up'd mine recently to 2GB.

There is a thread on these minecraft forums as to how to go about it ... if not then just look it up... it's not too difficult.

Don't do this. Assign it LESS memory instead, 256Mb is all it needs.

    Also, get Optifine

Really? Mine is working a lot smoother since I up'd the allocation.
