Repercussions of propex without pipe insert?

    Hello Folks,

just recently plumbed a new electric shower by taking a T from threequarter inch mains hydradare, using propex. Forgot to insert the little copper insert however an when I opened it a few mins later the insert would not go in.I suppose the propex was slightly pinched from the olive and the compression when I closed it. Anyway, does anyone know what may be the long or short term negative reaction? At the moment it seams to be fine.

    Thanks in advance,

    Eamon

It will leak, undo the 1/2", if you can get enough slack to make it up again by cutting a bit off the pipe, if it's too short carefully cut off the cone and fit the insert and a new cone.

Our houses are 6 years old. The neighbour knocked me up out of bed one night in a panic. The qualpex pipe feeding one of the rads popped out of the rad valve (no insert), we have pressurized heating systems and the filling loop was on in the hot press so it pissed every where.

    It will pop eventually:(

That's one of the reasons why fillng loops should be disconnected, or at least turned off.

You have to turn off filling loops or the safety valve will blow. Then there is auto filling valves. These are another issue and should be made illegal imo.

There wasn't even one on it . Just a lever action valve. Id say some one hit off it when getting a towel out.

I hate them. They are a good piece of kit in conjunction with a filling loop to stop over pressurizing when filling but they are used a lot to mask leaks.

auto filling valve are a complete waste of time and money, a pressure gauge should be installed and a filling loop used to fill the system and then disconnected to avoid the risk of contamination...water from CH system being siphoned back into mains water supply
