Correct Rate of Pay?

I am currently covering a maternity post in a vocational secondary school. I am being paid the €40.10 per hour. I am just wondering if I am entitled to the Qualified non-casual rate because I am covering this post until the teacher on Mat leave is back after Easter? Sorry if it sounds silly, or if it's already here (couldn't find a thread on it?).

If it is the case, who should I speak to? The Principal or call the Dep. of Ed's payroll section?

    Cheers in advance!

That's the unqualified rate. If you have a PGDE and are contracted for that maternity leave, you should be on an hourly rate (including holiday pay) which reflects your point on the salary scale. Do the VEC have copies of your qualifications and/or evidence of your experience?

You could mention it to the Principal, but it's the VEC's payroll department who will deal with it.

Thanks so much. Yes to the above! I was thinking the same, it's the guts of €200 difference a fortnight! I'll get on to payroll tomorrow! Appreciate that! :)

I had the same problem and I got on to payroll about it. They said it would take about a month to get it sorted. I haven't had a chance to look my latest payslip yet as it goes to a different house so I don't know if they've sorted it yet but I just wanted to let you know that it might take awhile.

Let me know how you get on with them. :)
