Hi Paddy, I use ecobrite its great stuff and lasts a long time in my stove, I buy it straight from the factory which isn't to far away from me which is cheaper than anywhere else. I can bank up the stove and get an 8 hour slow burn with it which is impressive, am burning wood mostly but use it to keep it in overnight or when I am out.

    Hi Mountainy Man

Do you use a mix of wood and coal?

    Thanks

I would recommend using staffords coal. Great coal. 2 logs and a half bucket of coal would get me through 12 hours in my stove 6kw

    Thanks folks.

I have a Stovax 8kw stove and currently burn wood and and peat briquettes in it.

So Im just looking at other forms of fuel for the stove.

Where can I get the ecobrite coal from in bulk then??

    Thanks.

    Is the stove lit?:D
The thermal energy content of good coal is about 6,000 kWh/ton and assume 50% efficiency or 3000 kWh/ton

12 hours at 6kw = 72 kWh which equates to about 24kg of coal

The OP asked for makes of coal, not names of suppliers: staffords are the importers and/or baggers of a wide range of coal products, ranging from cheap and cheerful and crap to top quality anthracite

Staffords branded coal then. I find it quite good. We know the maths etc but on a genuine basis once the primary and secondary air supplies are managed correctly then there should be no reason as to why!!!
