Insurance re-build cost?

    that time of the year and just checking what value to use. The SCS website has €161 per sq ft for a 1960's+ estate house, 4 bedroom Dublin. Ours is a 1940's one with no particular oddities but a little bigger then their suggested guide.
    Should taking that value and adding a bit more be ok?

    Also look at market value. The other factor to look at is whether there are more elaborate features in your house. Most 60's houses are very plain whereas older houses often had features such as cornicing, leaded glass doors, decorative fireplaces etc.

    Market value has nothing to do with it whatsoever, the insurance will only cover rebuild cost.
