For Japan, will probably be the same for us :) or near enough the same.

    http://3ds.nintendolife.com/news/2011/12/3ds_ambassador_game_boy_advance_games_revealed

    F-Zero: Maximum Velocity 86
    Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi’s Island 91
Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap 89
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones 85
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror 81
    Mario Kart: Super Circuit 91
    Mario vs. Donkey Kong 81
    Metroid Fusion 92
    Wario Land 4 88
    WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames 89

    Pretty damn good lineup!
The only one i'm not really that interested in is Mario Kart, and that's because i've got the 3DS version :P so many memories of trying to play that on the original GBA, trying to get enough light to see the screen...and somehow managing to unlock the SNES tracks. (so hard!)

    That's a superb lineup. Wow.

Available from this Friday in Japan too.... sweet. Europe won't be too far behind.

And Europe confirmed for Friday

Only had 4 of these before (Zelda, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island + Wario Land 4) and never completed Zelda so that's basically 7 games i've never really played :D

Only one I don't have is Mario vs Donkey Kong, but still very pleased with the line-up, great to have them to hand at all times.

I only had Minish cap and Metroid Fusion, so impressed with the line-up!

Never played yoshi's island, but heard it was a sequel kind-of to smw on the snes.
    Very interested in playing.

Yoshi's Island on the SNES was incredible, a real joy to play. One of those games where you find yourself grinning for no apparent reason while you're playing it every single time, and when someone asks why you're grinning you just hand them the controller, count to 10 and watch them start grinning too :) Having said that, I played the GBA version on the DS and the grip just wasn't right...
    So jealous of that list...

This is a great lineup, it's a quirky selection. Well done Nintendo!

Wow, that really is a fantastic line-up! I had a hankering to play Minish Cap recently, which I'll now be able to fulfill! Hope this means they'll begin adding other GBA games to the 3DS Virtual Console soon, though this already represents a hefty slice of the console's best games.

    Damn!
I already own 7 of them!
    Feck!

But, it'll be still cool to have two of the best Mario Karts on one console!

So, is the deal that these are never going to be released otherwise?
That "ambassadors" or "suckers who bought the console at a €100 premium" will be the only people to have these on the 3DS?

I would have preferred SMW tbh, instead of Yoshi...
Warioware is cool though, love that game and it'll be nice to start it again from scratch.

They said they "currently have no plans", which means they could have plans in future :P and i don't think they'll say no to free money....

I think you could comfortably rely on the fact that Ninty's "plans" will change and the ambassador titles will become available to everyone. they are among the best and most popular titles for the GBA and there is no extra work involved. Total no-brainer to release them at some point.

Which is fine by me :D

I just assumed they would be available for purchase to everyone tomorrow! Why the hell not ?

Free to the pre-price drop and the rest of us just pay... ffs

The games have more value to the people who they ripped off if they're not available to others.
Also bear in mind some people aren't fans of mario, some aren't fans of metroid, etc. so giving them no choice on what they can get yet people who Nintendo didn't rip off get to pick and choose fairly would be seen as a kick in the goonies.

Bit of exclusivity for early adopters, 6 to 12 months before everyone else gets 'em would be my guess.

So the question is - 8am tomorrow morning like the NES games?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

    Downloading. :)

Just to remind about the process:

    1. Load the eshop
    2. Go to "Settings/Other" at the far left of the eshop menu
    3. Go to History / Titles You've Downloaded
    4. The games will be listed here. Just Redownload the ones you want.

I'm downloading them now myself. Looking forward to trying out some of these games that I never had the chance to play.

Also the improvements that Nintendo made to the eShop since the NES games made a big difference. Not having to leave the eShop after every download and the introduction of sleep mode downloads is great.

I also noticed the Eurosport app appeared on the home screen. I'll be interested to see what they show.

Yeah, it's great you can que up the 10 titles, slap your 3ds closed and when you open it again in a few minutes(subject to internet speed), you've got 10 gifts to unwrap, just like christmas.

    Sports bloopers.

Can't bloody wait to finish work so I can download these when I get home. Even though I own 8 of them I still want them since I feel entitled:p

How do you play your new selection of Game Boy Advance games from the 3DS Ambassador promotion in their original native resolution?

Booting the games up normally will stretch them slightly to better fit the 3DS handheld's top screen.

But pressing the Start and Select buttons when loading the software will display the titles in their native resolution.

It makes the games display in a much smaller window, but the graphics are sharper.
Game Boy and Game Boy Color games also get a nice retro-themed border.

Playing them in the standard upscaled mode causes graphics to become slightly pixelated, with an added blur effect sometimes noticeable to smooth this.

It works, the graphics are definitely sharper...but you need a telescope to play the games ha

To be honest, I've never found the DS lite's backward capacity do the GBA any service, it just feels 'off' for whatever reason.

Only really played any Yoshi's Island so far, such a good game!

Nintendo get approval for me from their choice of 10 games :)

(Although the SNES version would probably have been a better choice, SNES games are 240 pixels high...but GBA was only 160 high....and 3DS is 240....so it was converted from 240 > 160 and then stretched back out to 240...definately not the superior way to do things!)

Just finished the first dungeon in minish cap. About 7 years since I last played it, so I had forgotten a fair bit. Dungeon design is fantastic...

They just released the first "Ambassador" NES title in Japan for the general public. (The Legend of Zelda)
Although they said there's no plans for GBA titles to be released to the public, i'd say we'll have to wait until all 10 NES titles are released first before an announcement.
