    http://www.independent.ie/world-news/europe/mother-faces-jail-for-microwaving-her-neighbourrsquos-kitten-in-revenge-attack-2963005.html

"A MOTHER-OF-THREE is facing jail after being found guilty of killing a kitten in a microwave in revenge for its owner reporting her abusive partner to police.

Gina Robins, 31, put the 10-week-old pet in the oven after using it to warm food for her 18-month-old son Oliver while at the home of its owner, Sarah Knutton. This was days after her then friend had reported an incident involving Robins' partner outside the same house.

Ms Knutton, who is hard of hearing, was able to hear a noise "like a crisp packet being popped", followed by a loud "screeching" while in the lounge, separated from the kitchen by a hallway and two doors.

After the kitten had died, Robins sent her a text message, calling time on their friendship and saying: "Remember the saying 'What goes around comes around'? It has started already to bite you in the arse. The cat? Karma."

Robins had denied a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, claiming that the microwave, which starts automatically when the door shuts, was accidentally turned on by one of the cats after the kitten got inside.

But magistrates found her evidence during her day-long trial last month "far-fetched" and "inconsistent" and said they were considering all sentencing options, including jail.

Robins, of Salisbury Avenue, Torquay, Devon will be sentenced at the town's magistrates court"

i just give up - i would be surprised if she gets more then a slap on the wrist - mother of 3 shir - great role model .

if it was one of mine that she hurt all i know is i would be locked up for how i react.

sickens me how far as a species we have fallen . highest form of mammal my arse.

    what a b1tch
remember the fuss last year about the cat in the wheelie bin, this is worse imo.

DISTRESSING: Though I also remember a case in the US where some ultimate sh!thead put their little baby in there, :(, how people can be so evil is beyond me. I haven't linked to this story it's just so awful.

Sorry for all the cursing, sometimes an ordinary word just won't do.

Do you think that maybe she was just really thick and thought it would just be a bit 'uncomfortable' rather than torture?

Good that they printed her name and address..VERY good indeed.

That is actually one of the sickest things that I have ever read and I am telling you one thing, like the poster above said, if it was even threatened to one of mine I would definitely be locked up for what I would do to the rotten evil cnut. Jesus, my blood is boiling now  And as the OP said, all that evil, scummy slag will get will be a caution or community service or some other ridiculous sentence that she will just laugh at. Am raging so much I think I'm going to have to take a walk or something - bulling here at my desk :mad::mad::mad:

Sick sick woman. Hope her kids are taken off her, if she's capable of doing that to a small defenceless animal (who has done nothing to deserve this) she's not fit to look after a defenceless small child who relys on her to set a good example.

Lets just say if that was my cat, she would not have walked out of that house alive. Hope she gets a decent sentence and not just a slap on the wrist and a bit of community service. Her name and address have been released so I'm sure she'l not get a moment's peace.

Don't contaminate yourself by ill wishing others, please. It bounces back on you. There is a natural justice that will suffice. Slowly.

Just read on sky news, she's been given 168 days in prison and a 10 year ban on keeping animals.

Still not enough but in fairness it's more than I was expecting.

    168 days in prison

This is better than I expected. I'm glad.

I think this forum should have an animal cruelty sub-forum. I had a lengthy discussion the other day with some other folks in rescue about 'animal cruelty porn' - a phrase now being used for increasingly graphic news reporting on animal cruelty cases.

A story like that, all I need to see is 'woman who microwaved kitten given 168 days in jail'. That's why I read these stories - to find out about sentencing and punishment and hopefully changes in the law.

I don't need to read 'a noise like a crisp packet popping' or 'a loud screeching noise'. What sort of unnecessarily gruesome titillation is that? If people want to read all about it there should be somewhere they can go to specifically look it up, as opposed to having it in the main forum.

And trust me I know all about animal cruelty. I just don't need to have images like that following me around all day. :(

god thats awful. I'm really upset by it, wish I didn't read it :( but then how would people would be aware of cruelty?its only through the media highlighting these cases and getting people on side that stiffer penalties will be imposed.

She, based on the law of probability, would have a long life ahead of her. As animal rights become inalienable (in law, not in morality), even more violent versions of animal rights activists will surface and she will most likely be killed for what she has done (we can dream of a better future can't we?). Thank God she exposed her monstrous potential before she could do more; to animals or people. She is not so much sick as evil and wishing harm on an innocent is to me a sign of a low soul.

It is most definitely pornographic, some of the detail re animal cruelty, but I think it needs to be aired. People need to connect with the suffering of all animals and realise that we (most of us) are culpable for almost as much as this woman; by partaking in commercial slaughtering without a full feel for the consequences of our actions. Again, we talk of OUR dog or OUR cat etc, whereas we are merely custodians, as we are with children. We must change our language in order to come down off of our arrogant 'king of the mammals' pedestal. At MOST, we are their guardians / custodians. We are blessed to have the company of animals; as anyone knows who gets caught up in a blackbird singing its lungs out, a Westie singing the Angelus (mine does!), a cow licking a calf etc etc. There is no room for people who purposefully impose pain on another animal, for that express purpose or to indirectly torture another being; personally I think that emergency measures were called for that woman; either lifetime secure remedial living or vigilante death. Yes, yes, I can see the anomaly. But sooner or later, extreme vigilante animal activists will hit. And I will laugh myself sick when I hear that someone like her was painfully killed. Her higher faculty potential was meant for so much more than the ugly killing of a beautiful baby animal. That she can have access to animals after 10 years is baffling to me.
To take the life of an animal is a serious thing. To waste that meat a scurrilous thing. To torture a living thing to me means that the operator is no longer worthy of the gift of life and should be silenced.

To write more would be unfortunate. It is enough to type it, express it and delete it. Why tell the world the full story? ;-)

Here's wishing her a Christmas in jail (doubt it will happen that quickly) and many terrifying nights and high-stress victim moments of varying exquisite badness that only jail can bring. YES, Karma is a bitch, dear.

How do they enforce the ban on keeping animals? By the way it should be a lifelong ban. Evil bitch.

She got off very lightly in my opinion. Its just shows animal cruelty cases are not treated particularly seriously.

Her children should be taken into care.

Afaik, she was brought straight to prison from court and should be there 'til May.

Eta: Actually she was told she will only serve half of that sentence, so it's 84 days in jail and 84 days suspended. She'll be out in March.

Interesting that you have repeated what you condemn/

And no it is not titillation ; reality.

And the header was clear enough for you to choose whether to open the thread anyways.

    Thank you.

I don't have any problem with others disagreeing. We are each and all different and with between us a vast wealth of experience.

What irks me is when folk attack for that reason. I learn here all the time and try to give from a very wide experience.

I am getting very old now and we see things differently from this angle.
And I don't need to be right all the time. ;) Just when I am!
    :)

You can still be a friend if you have different ideas.

Clearly I fail; but HEY! My critters adore me so that cannot all be bad!
