Writing for comedians

Can anyone advise on how to go about having my material performed by a comedian? I've plenty of material written which I think is top quality and completely original and I've ran it by others and got positive feedback. I'd try the stand-up my self but I don't have the liathroidi and I don't want to ruin the originality of it. I'm not even that interested in payment (at least at the start!) but just to get some coverage and see where I stand after that. Any advice?

There'll be better guys to get advice from, but I've had a couple of comedians use my stuff. The best way is to go to the comedy clubs, get your face known and hang out with the comedians. Over a beer, tell them some of your jokes and they'll adapt them to suit them.

    But...!

You really should get up and give it a whirl. There's stand up courses all over Dublin City (if you're from there) and an improv class will also help with the stage nerves. I'd recommend Peter in The Bankers (again, if you're based in Dublin)

    Do it yourself.

You'll be ages trying to work your way up to getting paid for writing and you'll get no thanks on the way.

Have some fun yourself with it.
