What I do with Aer Lingus is to book the child as an adult. Never an issue

Knowing these f*ckers they'll probably have a special tax on that

What you're describing OP sounds like a name change, which could work out just as expensive (if not more).

Have you tried contacting the Reservation Center? They may be able to add someone to the booking. The number is 0818 30 30 30 or you can use the premium rate number 1550 92 70 30.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on!

@D1stant: It bugs me when travelling with my daughter that I book her as a child but still pay full fare and as far as I can make out it makes no difference to the final price whether I book her as a child or an adult. However in this instance it might be a bit obvious that if the OP tries to book his child as an adult and up rolls a four year old! :)

ok, my wife rang that reservation number, and was told to book the child in as an adult, then ring them back with her reservation number and they will merge it with our reservation number, (if you understand me),no mention of a charge or never asked for bank details so i hope i wasnt charged!just waiting for an email to confirm our merged reservation,

The fair is always the same (for kids over 2) and to be honest I dont have an issue with that. A seat is a seat. Why they even have this adult/children booking Im not sure perhaps for regulatory or insurance purposes? In any case the web booking systems need a tweak

I would imagine it's for safety to ensure they have enough child sized lifejackets or something such.
